Vacuum Switching Valves (VSV)

  1. Check for vacuum circut continuity. Apply battery voltage to VSV terminals. Blow air into nozzle "E". Air should come out of nozzle "F". Disconnect battery. See Fig 1.
  2. Blow air into nozzle "E". Air should come out of filter. If VSV does not function as described, replace valve.
  3. Check VSV for short. Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between VSV terminals and ground. If continuity exists, replace VSV.
  4. Check VSV for open. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between both VSV terminals. Resistance should be 30-50 ohms at 68°F (20°C). If resistance is not within specification, replace VSV.
