Axle Hub: Installation

Place multi-purpose grease in the palm of your hand. Pack grease into the bearing, and continue until the grease oozes out from the outer side. Repeat for other bearing.
Coat inside of hub and cap with multi-purpose grease.
Install inner bearing and oil seal. Place inner bearing into the hub. Using Special Tool 09950-60020 (09951-00910), and 09950-70010 (09951-07150) drive in the oil seal into the hub. Coat the oil seal lip with multi-purpose grease.
Install axle hub on spindle. Place the axle hub on the spindle. Install the outer bearing. Install the thrust washer.
Adjust preload. See WHEEL BEARING PRELOAD under ADJUSTMENTS.
Install flange. Place a new gasket in position on the axle hub. Apply multipurpose grease to the inner flange spindles. Install the flange to the axle hub. Install the 6 cone washers, plate washers and nuts. Torque the nuts. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install the bolt in the axle shaft and pull it out.
Using a snap ring expanders, install the snap ring. See Fig 1. Remove the bolts. Coat inside of the cap with multi-purpose grease. Install the cap to the flange.
Install brake caliper. Tighten brake caliper bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Install front wheel. Tighten wheel lug nuts to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
