Using Jumper Wire
- Turn ignition on. Install Jumper Wire (SST 09843-18040) between terminals TE1 and E1 on Data Link Connector (DLC) No. 1. DLC No. 1 is located on end of air intake chamber at passenger's side of engine. See Fig 2.
- Note display operation of Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) on instrument panel. MIL may also be referred to as CHECK ENGINE light and is located on instrument panel, just below tachometer.
- Normal code and Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 12 will be displayed by MIL. See Fig 3. If a problem exists in engine immobilizer system, a DTC 99 will be displayed by MIL. See Fig 3. If DTC 99 is displayed, proceed to TROUBLE SHOOTING SYMPTOMS table under TROUBLE SHOOTING to system diagnosis by symptom.
- Remove jumper wire. Once all repairs are performed, clear DTCs from Engine Control Module (ECM). See CLEARING CODES .
- If MIL fails to operate when jumper wire is installed, check wiring circuit between TE1 terminal on DLC No. 1 and ECM connector E11 terminal No. 6 (Blue/White wire). For ECM terminal identification, see Figure. ECM is located behind glove box.
