Keyless entry system allows the doors to be locked and unlocked and rear window to be opened by the use of low-power electrical waves emitted from a hand held remote transmitter from a distance of approximately 3 feet from the vehicle. The electrical waves are received by the back door ECU which transmits a signal to the body Electronic Control Unit (ECU), controlling keyless entry system. Pushing the lock button once will lock all side and back (luggage compartment) doors. At this time, one beep will sound, and the parking and taillights will flash once. To turn off the theft deterrent system and unlock driver's door, push the remote transmitter button again within 3 seconds. Each time the unlock switch is pushed, the system will beep twice. If doors are not opened within 30 seconds, all the doors will automatically lock. The system is also equipped with a panic feature, which is activated by the panic button on the remote transmitter. It will sound the alarm for one minute or until the panic button is pressed a second time.
