2000 Camry

  1. Put vehicle in initialized condition by removing ignition key from ignition lock cylinder, close and lock all doors, and ensure door warning light is not illuminated. Depress lock or unlock switch 3 times or more on remote transmitter, then check unlock/lock operation after 3rd time. While standing about 3 feet (1 meter) from driver's outside door handle, point remote transmitter toward vehicle and depress one of the buttons on the remote transmitter for one second. If doors lock and unlock normally at this point, system is okay at this time. If doors do not lock or unlock normally at this point, go to next step.
  2. To test remote transmitter, remove battery and test for full battery voltage. Replace battery with a known-good replacement 3 volt battery or if not available, see BATTERY CAPACITY CHECK (2000 CAMRY) . If transmitter operates, use replacement battery and go to next step. If transmitter does not operate, see ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TESTS  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  3. Transmit signal from remote transmitter while walking around vehicle within 3 feet (1 meter) for approximately 20 seconds. Repeat test. If taillights do not respond, try a second remote transmitter programmed for this vehicle. If second remote transmitter operates correctly, replace previous remote transmitter. If second remote transmitter does not operate correctly, go to next step. If taillights respond, another body control system is faulty. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
  4. Check continuity in Violet wire between terminal No. 2 at door lock control receiver harness connector and terminal No. 8 at integration relay. Check continuity in Pink wire between terminal No. 4 at door lock control receiver harness connector and terminal No. 22 at integration relay harness connector. If continuity exists in both wires, go to next step. If continuity does not exist in both Violet and Pink wires, repair open in appropriate wire.
  5. Backprobe Pink wire between terminal No. 4 at door lock control receiver harness connector and terminal No. 22 at integration relay harness connector while pushing a button (transmitting) on remote transmitter. If 6-7 volts does not exist while pushing a button (transmitting) on remote transmitter, repair open circuit in Pink wire. If 6-7 volts exists, go to next step.
  6. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 7 (Pink/Blue wire) at door lock control receiver. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, check DOME fuse (7.5-amp) for continuity and voltage on input side. Replace fuse or repair voltage input to DOME fuse. If DOME fuse and voltage input is okay, repair open in Red wire between door lock control receiver, dome diode, and Red/Yellow wire from dome diode and terminal No. 8 at junction block (at lower left dashboard fuse box).
  7. Check continuity between terminal No. 1 (White/Black wire) at door lock control receiver and ground location at driver's kick panel. If continuity does not exist, repair open in White/Black wire between door lock control receiver and ground. If continuity exists, replace wireless door lock control receiver in center of dashboard, under air conditioning controller.
