Test No. 5: Rear Wiper Motor & Relay Circuit: Testing

  1. Check WIPER fuse (20-amp) located in left junction block. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is open, locate and repair short circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Replace fuse.
  2. Disconnect body ECU harness connectors. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between body ECU harness connector I21 terminal No. 4 (ground) and terminals No. 3 and 12. See Figure. If voltage is 10-14 volts, go to next test listed. See appropriate TROUBLE SHOOTING SYMPTOMS table under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If voltage is not 10-14 volts, go to next step.
  3. Check operation of rear wiper relay. See appropriate WIPER/WASHER SYSTEMS article. If rear wiper relay operates properly, go to next step. If rear wiper relay is defective, replace rear wiper relay.
  4. Check operation of rear wiper motor. See appropriate WIPER/WASHER SYSTEMS article. If rear wiper motor operates properly, go to next step. If rear wiper motor is defective, replace rear wiper motor.
  5. Check for faulty connectors and wiring between rear wiper motor and body ECU. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  6. Repair wiring or connectors as necessary. If connectors and wiring are okay, go to next test listed. See appropriate TROUBLE SHOOTING SYMPTOMS table under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
