Timing Chain: Replacement

  1. REPLACE CRANKSHAFT FRONT OIL SEAL 

    HINT:

    NOTE: There are 2 methods ( a and ( b to replace the oil seal.
    1. If the timing chain cover is removed from the cylinder block.
      1. Using a screwdriver and a hammer, tap out the oil seal.

      2. Using SST and a hammer, tap in a new oil seal until its surface is flush with the timing chain cover edge.

        SST 09309-37010

      3. Apply MP grease to the oil seal lip.

    2. If the timing chain cover is installed to the cylinder block.
      1. Using SST, remove the oil seal.

      2. Using SST and a hammer, tap in a new oil seal until its surface is flush with the timing chain cover edge.

  2. REPLACE DRIVE BELT IDLER BEARING 
    1. Mount the drive belt idler in a vice, and remove the bolt, washer and pulley.

    2. Using SST and a press, press out the bearing.

      SST 09950-60010 (09951-00240), 09950-70010 (09951-07100)

    3. Using SST and a press, press in a new bearing.

    4. Mount the drive belt idler in a vice, and reinstall the pulley with the washer and bolt.

      Torque: 43 N.m (440 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbf) 

      NOTE: Be careful of the installation direction of pulley and washer.
