Anti-Theft Systems: Description

WARNING:
Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
DO NOT apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.
Vehicle does not have a separate ECU for anti-theft. All anti-theft system functions are controlled by body ECU. Body ECU monitors ignition unlock warning switch and courtesy switches for all doors, luggage compartment and hood. Horn for anti-theft system is connected to body ECU.
When anti-theft system is set (armed) by remote transmitter, system will lock all doors, flash taillights and parking lights. If hood, luggage compartment and all doors are locked, system will automatically arm after 30 seconds. Alarm will sound if hood, luggage compartment or any door is opened without using key or remote transmitter, battery cable is disconnected and reconnected from either battery or system receives panic signal from remote transmitter.
