Cruise Control Ecu Power Source Circuit

  1. Locate ECU-IG (15-amp) fuse in instrument panel junction block No. 1. See Figure. Remove ECU-IG fuse and check fuse continuity. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is not okay, check for short between terminal No. 9 (Black/Orange wire) of cruise control ECU connector and ECU-IG fuse.
  2. Remove cruise control ECU with connector attached. See Figure. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage (backprobe) between terminals No. 9 (Black/Orange wire) and No. 16 (White/Black wire) of cruise control ECU connector. If battery voltage is not present, go to next step. If battery voltage is present, no problem is indicated at this time. Fault may be intermittent. If sent here from SYMPTOM TESTS, perform next test listed.
  3. Turn ignition off. Measure resistance (backprobe) between ground and terminal No. 16 (White/Black wire) at cruise control ECU connector. If resistance is less than one ohm, repair Black/Orange wire or connector between terminal No. 9 of cruise control ECU connector and ECU-IG (15-amp) fuse. Retest system. If resistance is one ohm or more, repair wiring harness or connector between terminal No. 16 (White/Black wire) of cruise control ECU connector and ground (located at left side of instrument panel). Retest system.
