Seat Heater System: Inspection

  1. A/C control panel assembly: 

    INSPECT DRIVERS SEAT HEATER SWITCH OPERATION 

    1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1, 2 and negative (-) lead to terminal 24, 25.

    3. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 12 through a 1.4 W test bulb.
    4. Turn the drivers seat heater switch ON and check that the test bulb and indicator light turn ON.

      If operation is not as specified, proceed to the next inspection.

  2. A/C control panel assembly: 

    INSPECT PASSENGER SEAT HEATER SWITCH OPERATION 

    1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1, 2 and negative (-) lead to terminal 24, 26.

    3. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 13 through a 1.4 W test bulb.
    4. Turn the passenger seat heater switch ON and check that the test bulb and indicator light turn ON.

      If operation is not as specified, proceed to the next inspection.

  3. INSPECT SEAT CUSHION HEATER CONTINUITY 
    1. Disconnect the seat back heater from the seat cushion heater.
    2. Heat the 2 thermostats with a light and check that there is no continuity above 50°C (122 °F) between terminals A1 and B2, A2 and B1.
    3. Cool the 2 thermostats below 40 °C (104 °F) between terminals A1 and B2, A2 and B1.

    If continuity is not as specified, replace the seat heater.

  4. INSPECT SEAT BACK CONTINUITY

    Check that there is continuity between terminals 1 and 2. If continuity is not as specified, replace the seat back pad.

  5. INSPECT IGNITION MAIN RELAY CONTINUITY

    IGNITION MAIN RELAY CONTINUITY REFERENCE

    Condition Tester Connection Specified Condition
    Constant 1 - 2 Continuity
    Apply B+ Between Terminals 1 & 2. 3 - 5 Continuity

    If continuity is not as specified, replace the relay.
