Cruise Control System - Diagnostics: Pre-Check

  1. PRE-CHECK
    1. Check that the cruise control actuator assembly, acceleration wire, accelerator auto drive cable assembly, link assembly is installed correctly and that the wire and link are securely connected.
    2. Check that the operating movement of the acceleration pedal, cruise control actuator assembly, acceleration wire, accelerator auto drive cable assembly, link is smooth.
    3. Adjust the acceleration auto drive cable assembly and link system not to allow any play or excessive tension.
    4. Check that the cruise control computer assembly, cruise control actuator assembly, cruise control main switch assembly and connectors of each cancel switch are connected securely.
    5. When turning on the main switch of the cruise control main switch assembly with the ignition switch ON, check that the CRUISE indicator lamp in the accessory meter assembly lights up.
  2. DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM
    1. Check the indicator.
      1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
      2. Check that the CRUISE MAIN indicator light comes on when the cruise control main switch is turned on, and that the indicator light goes off when the main switch is turned OFF.

NOTE: If the indicator check result is not normal, proceed to troubleshooting. See INDICATORS AND WARNING LIGHT DO NOT LIGHT UP for the combination meter section.
    2. Check the DTC.
NOTE: If a malfunction occurs in the No. 1 vehicle speed sensor or actuator, etc. during cruise control driving, the ECU actuates AUTO CANCEL of the cruise control and turns ON and OFF the CRUISE MAIN indicator light to inform the driver of a malfunction. At the same time, the malfunction is stored in memory as a diagnostic trouble code.

  3. USING TOYOTA HAND-HELD TESTER
    1. Hook up the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Monitor the ECU data by following the prompts on the tester screen.
NOTE: The hand-held tester has a "Snapshot" function which records the monitored data.

Please refer to the hand-held tester operator's manual for further details.

  4. DTC CLEARANCE (ERASE MODE)
NOTE: During in the erase mode, DTC detection does not work.
    1. Drive at about 15 km/h or below.
    2. Using SST, connect terminals Tc and CG of DLC3.
