Differential Assembly: Disassembly
- Secure differential case in a soft-jawed vise. Using appropriate puller, remove tapered roller bearings from differential case. See Figure. Note size and location of roller bearings for reassembly reference. One bearing has 22 large rollers, and the other bearing has 24 small rollers. Using a pin punch and a hammer, drive out straight pin. See Figure.
- Remove pinion shaft, 2 pinion gears, 2 pinion thrust washers, 2 side gears, and 2 side gear thrust washers from differential case. See Figure.
