Section 508 (Lighting System): Inspection

- HEADLAMP DIMMER SWITCH ASSY
- Inspect light control switch continuity.
- Inspect headlight dimmer switch continuity.
- Check that there is continuity between terminals at each switch position as shown in the chart.
Standard:
HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH TERMINALS CONTINUITYSwitch Operation Tester Connection Specified Condition FLASH 8-11, 9-11 Continuity LOW BEAM(1) 9-11 Continuity LOW BEAM(2) 8-11, 9-11 No continuity HIGH BEAM 9-11 Continuity (1) w/ Fog Light (2) w/o Fog Light
- Check that there is continuity between terminals at each switch position as shown in the chart.
- Inspect turn signal switch continuity.
- W/ Fog light:
Inspect front fog light switch continuity.
- BACK UP LAMP SWITCH ASSY
- Inspect back up lamp switch continuity.
- Check that there is continuity between terminals when switch operation.
Standard:
OFF (When ball is not pressed): No continuity
ON (when ball is pressed): Continuity
- Check that there is continuity between terminals when switch operation.
- Inspect back up lamp switch continuity.
- STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY
- HAZARD WARNING SIGNAL SWITCH ASSY
- Inspect hazard warning signal switch assy continuity.
- Inspect illumination operation.
- Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 8 and negative (-) lead to terminal 9, then check that the illumination comes on.
- FRONT DOOR COURTESY LAMP SWITCH ASSY
- Inspect front door courtesy lamp switch assy continuity.
- Check that there is continuity between terminal 1 and body ground when switch is operated.
Standard:
ON (When shaft is pressed): No continuity
OFF (When shaft is not pressed): Continuity
- Check that there is continuity between terminal 1 and body ground when switch is operated.
- Inspect front door courtesy lamp switch assy continuity.
- REAR DOOR COURTESY LAMP SWITCH ASSY
- Inspect rear door courtesy lamp switch assy continuity.
- Check that there is continuity between terminal 1 and body ground when switch is operated.
Standard:
ON (When shaft is pressed): No continuity
OFF (When shaft is not pressed): Continuity
- Check that there is continuity between terminal 1 and body ground when switch is operated.
- Inspect rear door courtesy lamp switch assy continuity.
- BACK DOOR COURTESY LAMP SWITCH ASSY
- Inspect back door courtesy lamp switch assy continuity.
- Check that there is continuity between terminal 1 and bracket when switch is operated.
Standard:
ON (When shaft is pressed): No continuity
OFF (When shaft is not pressed): Continuity
- Check that there is continuity between terminal 1 and bracket when switch is operated.
- Inspect back door courtesy lamp switch assy continuity.
- MAP LAMP ASSY
- ROOM LAMP ASSY NO. 1
- Inspect room lamp assy No. 1 continuity.
- Check that there is continuity when switch is operated.
Standard:
ON: Continuity
OFF: No continuity
- Check that there is continuity when switch is operated.
- Inspect room lamp assy No. 1 continuity.
- HEADLAMP RELAY
- Inspect headlamp relay continuity.
- Check that there is continuity between terminals.
Standard:
HEADLAMP RELAY TERMINALS CONTINUITYTester Connection Specified Condition 1-2 Continuity 3-5 Continuity - Apply battery voltage (10-14 V) between terminal 1 and 2, then check that there is continuity between terminal 3 and 5.
Standard: There is continuity.
- Check that there is continuity between terminals.
- Inspect headlamp relay continuity.
- FOG LAMP RELAY
- Inspect fog lamp relay continuity.
- Check that there is continuity between terminals.
Standard:
FOG LAMP RELAY TERMINALS CONTINUITYTester Connection Specified Condition 1-2 Continuity 3-5 Continuity - Apply battery voltage (10-14 V) between terminal 1 and 2, then check that there is continuity between terminal 3 and 5.
Standard: There is continuity.
- Check that there is continuity between terminals.
- Inspect fog lamp relay continuity.
- TAILLAMP RELAY
- Inspect taillamp relay continuity.
- Check that there is continuity between terminals.
Standard:
TAILLAMP RELAY TERMINALS CONTINUITYTester Connection Specified Condition 1-2 Continuity 3-5 Continuity - Apply battery voltage (10-14 V) between terminal 1 and 2, then check that there is continuity between terminal 3 and 5.
Standard: There is continuity.
- Check that there is continuity between terminals.
- Inspect taillamp relay continuity.
- INTEGRATION RELAY
- Check illuminated entry operation.
- Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal A-1 and negative (-) lead to terminal A-9.
- Check that the battery voltage (10-14 V) generates between terminal B-3 and A-9, then connect the negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal A-5 and A-6.
- Disconnect the negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal A-5 and A-6, or connect the positive (-) lead from the battery to terminal B-18 or B-19, or connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal A-10, then check that there is no voltage between terminal A-12 and A-9.
- Inspect battery saver operation.
- Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal A-1 and negative (-) lead to terminal A-9.
- Connect the negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal A-5 and A-6, then check that the battery voltage (10-14 V) generates between terminal A-12 and A-9.
- After 20 min., check that there is no voltage between terminal A-12 and A-9.
- Check illuminated entry operation.
