Ignition Switch & Key Unlock Warning System: Inspection

  1. INSPECT IGNITION SWITCH CONTINUITY

    IGNITION SWITCH CONTINUITY INSPECTION

    Switch Position Tester Connection Specified Condition
    LOCK - No Continuity
    ACC 2 - 3 Continuity
    ON
    2 - 3 - 4 Continuity
    6 - 7 Continuity
    START
    1 - 2 - 4 Continuity
    6 - 7 - 8 Continuity

    If the continuity is not as specified, replace, the switch.

  2. INSPECT KEY UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH CONTINUITY

    KEY UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH CONTINUITY INSPECTION

    Switch Position Tester Connection Specified Condition
    Switch Free (Key Removed) 1 - 2 No Continuity
    Switch Pushed (Key Inserted) 1 - 2 Continuity

    If the continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.

  3. Key unlock warning system: 
    1. INSPECT COMBINATION METER OPERATION 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the combination meter.
    2. Ground terminal 1 ad 2 on the wire harness side connector.

    3. Check the buzzer sounds.
    4. Disconnect the negative (-) lead from the body ground to terminal 1 or 2.
    5. Check that the buzzer stops sounding.

    If the operation is not as specified, replace the combination meter.
