Back Door Glass: Removal
HINT:
A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart. (See SPECIFIED TORQUE FOR STANDARD BOLTS )
- REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM BOARD
Using a screwdriver, remove the back door trim board.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- REMOVE STOP LIGHT COVER
Using a screwdriver, remove the stop light cover.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- REMOVE UPPER SIDE GARNISHES
Using a screwdriver, remove the upper side garnishes.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- REMOVE STOP LIGHT
- REMOVE WIPER ARM
- REMOVE BACK DOOR MOLDING
- Using a knife, cut off the molding as shown in Fig 4.NOTE: Do not damage the body with the knife.
- Remove the remaining molding.
- Using a knife, cut off the molding as shown in Fig 4.
- REMOVE BACK DOOR GLASS
- Push a piano wire through between the body and glass from the interior.
- Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects.
HINT:
Apply protective tape to the outer surface to keep the surface from being scratched.
NOTE: When scraping the glass, take care not to damage the paint and interior and exterior ornaments. - Cut the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around it.
- Remove the glass.NOTE: Leave as much of the adhesive on the body as possible when cutting off the glass.
