Inspection Procedure

HINT:

In case of using the hand-held tester, start the inspection from step  1 and in case of not using the hand-held tester, start from step  2.

  1. Read value on hand-held tester. 

    PREPARATION: 

    1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    3. According to the display on the tester, read the "DATA LIST".

    When the cruise control main switch is operated, the normal conditions listed above are shown on the display.

    NG (All items are defective.) B
    NG (One to four items are defective.) C
    1. B : Go to step 2 
    2. C : Replace cruise control main switch. 
    3. A : Go to next step 

    Proceed to next circuit inspection shown in  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE   . 

  2. Check cruise control switch continuity. 

    PREPARATION: 

    1. Remove steering wheel center pad.
    2. Disconnect the cruise control switch connector.

    CHECK: 

    Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH CONTINUITY  .

    OK: 

    CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH CONTINUITY

    Switch condition Tester connection Specified condition
    Neutral 1 - 3 Below 1 Ω
    RES/+ 1 - 3 210 to 270Below 1 Ω
    SET/- 1 - 3 560 to 700Below 1 Ω
    CANCEL 1 - 3 1,380 to 1,700Below 1 Ω
    Main Switch OFF 1 - 3 10 kBelow 1 Ω or higher
    Main Switch ON 1 - 3 Below 1 Ω
    1. NG : Replace cruise control switch. 
    2. OK : Go to next step. 
  3. Check harness and connector (Cruise control switch - spiral cable sub-assy) 

    PREPARATION: 

    Disconnect the spiral cable connector.

    CHECK: 

    Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH - SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY  .

    OK: 

    CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH - SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY

    Tester Connection Specification
    A-5 - B-3 Below 1 Ω
    A-4 - B-1 Below 1 Ω
    1. NG : Repair or replace harness or connector. 
    2. OK : Go to next step. 
  4. Inspect spiral cable sub-assy 

    PREPARATION: 

    Disconnect the spiral cable vehicle side connector.

    CHECK: 

    Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    OK: 

    SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY

    Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
    A-5 - C16-5 Always Below 1 Ω
    A-4 - C16-4 Always Below 1 Ω
    1. NG : Replace spiral cable sub-assy 
    2. OK : Go to next step. 
  5. Check harness and connector (ECM - spiral cable sub-assy) 

    PREPARATION: 

    Disconnect the ECM connector.

    CHECK: 

    Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in ECM - SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY  .

    OK: 

    ECM - SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY

    CCS (E4-2) - Body ground Always 10 kBelow 1 Ω or higher
    Spiral cable (C16-4) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    1. NG : Repair or replace harness or connector. 
    2. OK : Replace ECM (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ).
