Back Door Glass: Removal

  1. REMOVE ASSIST GRIP 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the 2 assist grip plugs.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Remove the 2 screws and assist grip.
  2. REMOVE INSIDE HANDLE BEZEL 
  3. REMOVE CENTER BACK DOOR GARNISH 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the center back door garnish.

    HINT:

    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  4. REMOVE BACK DOOR GARNISH 

    Using a screwdriver, remove the back door garnish.

    HINT:

    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  5. REMOVE REAR WIPER ARM (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  6. REMOVE OUTSIDE BACK WINDOW MOLDING 

    Using a knife, cut off the molding as shown.

    NOTE: Do not damage the body with the knife.

  7. REMOVE BACK DOOR GLASS 
    1. Disconnect the connector.
    2. Push piano wire through between the body and glass from the interior.
    3. Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects.

      HINT:

      Apply protective tape to the outer surface to keep the surface from being scratched.

      NOTE: When separating the glass, take care not to damage the paint and exterior ornaments.
    4. Cut the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around it.
    5. Remove the glass.
    NOTE: Leave as much of the adhesive on the body as possible when cutting off the glass.
