Instrument Panel Sub-ASSY Lower: Replacement

• Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT 

   HINT:

   All bolts, screws and nuts relevant to installing and removing the instrument panel are shown along with their alphabet code in the table below.

2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL (SEE  SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM  ) 
3. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSY W/PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSY (SEE  INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSY   ) 
4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO.2 
5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO.3 
6. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSY (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
7. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSY (SEE  OVERHAUL  ) 

   SST 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021)

8. REMOVE TILT LEVER BRACKET (SEE  OVERHAUL  ) 
9. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (SEE  OVERHAUL  ) 
10. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSY W/SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY (SEE  OVERHAUL  ) 
11. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
12. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
13. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
14. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
15. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSY CENTER 
    1. Remove the 2 screws.
    2. Disengage the 4 clips and then remove the instrument cluster finish panel assy center.

16. REMOVE CENTER CLUSTER CUSHION NO.1 
17. REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSY W/STEREO OPENING COVER (SEE  RADIO RECEIVER ASSY  ) 
18. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER CENTER 
    1. Using a clip remover, remove the clip from the instrument panel finish panel lower center.
    2. Disengage the 4 claws and the 2 clips, and then remove the instrument panel finish panel lower center.

19. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR LOCK COVER 
    1. Disengage the 6 claws and then remove the glove compartment door lock cover.

20. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR LOCK ASSY 
    1. Remove the 4 screws and then the glove compartment door lock assy.

21. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER 
    1. Disengage the 4 claws and then remove the instrument panel finish panel lower.

22. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSY NO.1 
    1. Disengage the 2 claws and then remove the instrument panel under cover sub-assy No.1.

23. REMOVE POWER STEERING ECU ASSY (SEE  POWER STEERING ECU ASSY  ) 
24. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER ASSY LWR (SEE  OVERHAUL  ) 
25. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSY LOWER 
    1. Using a clip remover, remove the 8 clips from the duct and the instrument panel sub-assy lower.
    2. Remove the 4 bolts < F >, and the 2 bolts < G >.
    3. Remove the screw, and the screw < H >.
    4. Disconnect all connectors, and disengage all clamps. Make sure the wire harness is not caught on anything, and then remove the instrument panel sub-assy lower.

26. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT PLATE 
    1. Remove the 2 screws.
    2. Disengage the 2 claws and then remove the glove compartment plate.
27. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL CUSHION LOWER NO.1 
28. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER ASSY LWR (SEE  OVERHAUL  ) 
29. INSTALL POWER STEERING ECU ASSY (SEE  POWER STEERING ECU ASSY  ) 
30. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSY W/PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSY (SEE  INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSY   ) 
31. INSTALL TILT LEVER BRACKET (SEE  OVERHAUL  ) 
32. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY (SEE  SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY  ) 
33. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSY (SEE  OVERHAUL  ) 
34. INSTALL HORN BUTTON ASSY (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
35. CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL (SEE  BATTERY (1 NZ-FXE)  ) 
36. INSPECT HORN BUTTON ASSY (SEE  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  ) 
37. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT (SEE  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM  ) 
38. PERFORM INITIALIZATION (SEE  INITIALIZATION  ) 
39. PERFORM CALIBRATION OF TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT (SEE  CALIBRATION  )
