Back Door Glass: Removal

HINT:

A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart (see SPECIFIED TORQUE FOR STANDARD BOLTS ).

  1. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM BOARD 

    Using a screwdriver, remove the back door trim board.

    HINT:

    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  2. REMOVE STOP LIGHT COVER 

    Using a screwdriver, remove the stop light cover.

    HINT:

    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  3. REMOVE UPPER SIDE GARNISHES 

    Using a screwdriver, remove the upper side garnishes.

    HINT:

    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  4. REMOVE STOP LIGHT 
  5. REMOVE WIPER ARM

  6. REMOVE BACK DOOR MOULDING 
    1. Using a knife, cut off the moulding as shown.
      NOTE: Do not damage the body with the knife.
    2. Remove the remaining moulding.

  7. REMOVE BACK DOOR GLASS 
    1. Push a piano wire through between the body and glass from the interior.
    2. Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects.

      HINT:

      Apply protective tape to the outer surface to keep the surface from being scratched.

      NOTE: When scraping the glass, take care not to damage the paint and interior and exterior ornaments.
    3. Cut the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around it.
    4. Remove the glass.
      NOTE: Leave as much of the adhesive on the body as possible when cutting off the glass.
