Torsion Bar Spring: Installation

  1. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION TORQUE ARM 
    1. Install the bolt, torque arm and 2 nuts.

      Torque: 225 N*m (2,300 kgf*cm, 166 ft.*lbf) 

  2. INSTALL TORSION BAR SPRING 

    HINT:

    • There are right and left matchmarks on the rear end of the torsion bar springs.
    • Apply a light coat of MP grease to the spline of the torsion bar springs.
    1. New torsion bar spring:
      1. Install a new torsion bar spring and anchor arm.
      2. Install the anchor arm to a new torsion bar spring.

      3. Install the torsion bar spring with the anchor arm to the torque arm.
      4. Install the anchor arm adjusting seat, anchor arm swivel and anchor arm adjusting bolt.
      5. Check that the length of the anchor arm adjusting bolt end is almost the same as dimension "B" measured when the torsion bar spring was removed.

      6. Tighten the anchor arm adjusting bolt so that the dimension "A" is within the specified value in ANCHOR ARM ADJUSTING BOLT DIMENSION SPECIFICATION  .

        Standard dimension (Reference) 

        ANCHOR ARM ADJUSTING BOLT DIMENSION SPECIFICATION

        Item Specified Condition
        LH side 8 to 25 mm (0.315 to 0.984 in.)
        RH side 2 to 18 mm (0.079 to 0.709 in.)
    2. Reused torsion bar spring:
      1. Install the torsion bar spring and anchor arm.
      2. Align the matchmarks on the torsion bar spring and anchor arm and install them.

      3. Align the matchmarks on the torsion bar spring and torque arm and install them.
      4. Tighten the anchor arm adjusting bolt so that the dimension "A" is almost the same as the dimension measured when the torsion bar spring was removed.
  3. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER 
  4. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL 

    Torque: 131 N*m (1,340 kgf*cm, 97 ft.*lbf) 

  5. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT 
    1. Inspect and adjust the FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT  .

      HINT:

      After stabilizing the suspension, adjust the vehicle height by turning the anchor arm bolt.
