REAR AXLE BEAM (for 2WD): Installation

  1. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR AXLE BEAM ASSEMBLY 
    1. Support the rear axle beam assembly with jack.
    2. Install the rear axle beam assembly and 2 bolts, temporarily tighten the 2 nuts.

  2. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING 
    1. Install the rear shock absorber with coil spring and rear shock absorber LH cushion retainer, temporarily tighten the nut.
    2. Using the same manner described above to the other side.

  3. INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB & BEARING ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Install the rear axle hub with the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 61 N*m (622 kgf*cm, 45 ft.*lbf) 

  4. INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB & BEARING ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Install the RH side by the same procedures as the LH side.

  5. CONNECT REAR BRAKE TUBE NO. 4 (for Drum Type) 
    1. Temporarily tighten the rear brake tube No. 4 and flexible hose.
    2. Connect the rear brake tube No. 4 with the clip to the rear axle beam assembly.

    3. Using SST, fully tighten the rear brake tube No. 4.

      SST 09023-00101 

      Torque: 15.2 N*m (155 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf) 

  6. CONNECT REAR BRAKE TUBE NO. 3 (for Drum Type) 

    SST 09023-00101 

    HINT:

    Connect the RH side by the same procedures as the LH side.

  7. INSTALL STABILIZER BAR REAR (See REMOVAL  )
  8. CONNECT PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY NO. 3 
    1. Connect the parking brake cable No. 3 with the bolt.

      Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf) 

  9. CONNECT PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY NO. 2 
    1. Connect the parking brake cable No. 2 with the bolt.

      Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf) 

  10. CONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE (w/ ABS) 
    1. Connect the skid control sensor wire with the bolt and clip.

      Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) 

    2. Connect the skid control sensor connector.
    3. Use the same manner described above to the other side.

  11. INSTALL REAR DISC (for Disc Type) 

    HINT:

    Use the same manner described above to the other side.

  12. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH (for Disc Type) (See  REASSEMBLY  ) 
  13. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY RH (for Disc Type) 
  14. INSTALL REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Drum Type) 

    HINT:

    Use the same manner described above to the other side.

  15. STABILIZE SUSPENSION 
    1. Install the rear wheel and jack down the vehicle.

      Torque: 103 N*m (1,050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Bounce the vehicle up and down several times to stabilize the suspension.
  16. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR AXLE BEAM ASSEMBLY 
    1. Fully tighten the bolt.

      Torque: 85 N*m (867 kgf*cm, 63 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Using the same manner described above to the other side.

  17. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING 
    1. Fully tighten the nut.

      Torque: 80 N*m (816 kgf*cm, 59 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Using the same manner described above to the other side.
  18. BLEED BRAKE LINE (See  BLEEDING  ) 
  19. INSPECT BRAKE FLUID (See  BLEEDING  ) 
  20. INSPECT REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT 

    HINT:

    See ADJUSTMENT
