Section 8 (Engine Cooling System): Fan: Installation

  1. INSTALL FAN 
    1. Install the fan to the fluid coupling with the 4 nuts.

      Torque: 8.5 N*m (87 kgf*cm, 75 in.*lbf)

  2. INSTALL FAN WITH FLUID COUPLING 
    1. Place the fan with fluid coupling, fan pulley and fan shroud in position.

    3. Temporarily install the fan pulley mounting nuts.
    4. Install the fan shroud with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf)

    5. Connect the 2 oil cooler hoses to the clamp on the fan shroud.

    7. Install the drive belt (see INSTALLATION ).
    8. Tighten the 4 fan pulley mounting nuts.

      Torque: 29 N*m (296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf) 

    9. Install the 2 wire harness brackets to the radiator wire with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) 

    10. Install the 2 clamps on the A/C discharge tube to the 2 wire harness brackets with the 2 nuts.

      Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) 

  3. INSTALL RADIATOR RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the grommet to the reservoir.
    2. Attach the lower side of the reservoir to the fan shroud.
    3. Install the reservoir with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) 

    4. Connect the reservoir hose to the radiator.
    5. Install the clamp on the wire to the radiator.
  4. INSTALL NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE (See  INSTALLATION   ) 
  5. ADD ENGINE COOLANT (See  COOLANT   ) 
  6. ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID 
    1. Add automatic transmission fluid (see AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID ).
  7. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  8. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 
    1. Perform initialization (see INITIALIZATION ).
      NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
  9. CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS 
    1. Check for engine coolant leaks (see COOLING SYSTEM  ).
  10. CHECK FOR OIL LEAKS 
    1. Check for engine oil leaks (see ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION ).
  11. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER (See  INSTALLATION  )
