Inspection Procedure
NOTE:
When replacing the ABS and TRACTION actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration (See CALIBRATION
).
- INSPECT ABS WARNING LIGHT
- WHEN USING INTELLIGENT TESTER:
- Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3 and start the engine.
- Select the "ABS WARN LIGHT" in the ACTIVE TEST and operate the ABS warning light by the intelligent tester.VEHICLE CONDITION REFERENCE CHART
Item Vehicle Condition / Test Details Diagnostic Note ABS WARN LIGHT Turns ABS warning light ON / OFF Observe combination meter - Check that "ON" and "OFF" of the ABS warning light can be shown on the combination meter by the intelligent tester.
OK: The ABS warning light turns on or off in accordance with the intelligent tester.
- WHEN NOT USING INTELLIGENT TESTER:
- Turn the ignition switch off and disconnect the connector from the skid control ECU.
- Ground terminal WA of the skid control ECU.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
- Check the ABS warning light.
OK
ILLUMINATION CONDITION REFERENCE CHARTWA - GND Condition Illumination Condition Connected OFF Disconnected ON
NG: Go to step 2
OK : REPLACE ABS AND TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY
- WHEN USING INTELLIGENT TESTER:
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - COMBINATION METER)
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector and combination meter connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Specified Condition C11-8 - S1-29 (WA) Below 1 Ω - Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Specified Condition S1-29 (WA) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK : Go to Next Step
- INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
- Check combination meter assembly (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING ).
NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
OK : REPLACE ABS AND TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY
