  1. PERFORM INITIALIZATION (SFI SYSTEM) 
    1. Apply the parking brake and chock the vehicle.
    2. Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Put the engine in the inspection mode (See INSPECTION MODE PROCEDURE ).
    4. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Coolant Temp.
    5. Warm up the engine with the A/C switch off until the coolant temperature becomes 83°C (181°F) or more.
    6. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / SOC.
    7. Move the shift lever to the N position, set the A/C switch to MAX cool or turn on the front defroster, and leave the vehicle until the SOC value becomes below 40%.

      HINT:

      If the SOC is substantially below 40%, the HV battery may become fully discharged. Therefore, do not allow the SOC to reach substantially below 40%.

    8. Move the shift lever to the P position and turn the power switch off.
    9. Disconnect the negative terminal from the auxiliary battery and leave it for 1 minute or more.
    10. Reconnect the negative terminal to the auxiliary battery and turn the power switch on (IG).
    11. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Coolant Temp.
    12. Check that the engine coolant temperature is 83°C (181°F) or more.

      HINT:

      If the engine coolant temperature is below 83°C (181°F), start the engine by depressing the accelerator pedal with the shift lever in the P position to increase the coolant temperature.

    13. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Calculate Load.
    14. Move the shift lever to the D position while depressing the brake pedal with your left foot.
    15. Depress the accelerator pedal with your right foot while firmly depressing the brake pedal with your left foot, and maintain an engine load value of 45% or more (accelerator pedal depressed 60 to 70%) for approximately 30 seconds.
      NOTE: Do not perform this step for 40 seconds or more.
    16. Shift the shift lever to the P position. Turn the power switch off and then wait for 5 seconds before putting the vehicle into the READY-on state again.
    17. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / ISC Learning.
    18. Check that the air conditioner is off. Lightly depress the accelerator pedal and release it when the engine starts.
    19. Check that "Complete" is displayed on the Techstream screen.

    HINT:

    • If "ISC Learning" is not completed within 1 minute, repeat steps (o) through (r).
    • The engine will usually stop when "ISC Learning" is completed. However, the engine will not stop even when "ISC Learning" is completed in such cases when the charge level of the auxiliary battery is decreased.
  2. DESCRIPTION OF INITIALIZATION (TIRE PRESSURE WARNING SYSTEM) 
    1. Perform initialization in the following cases:
      • Before delivery of a new vehicle.
      • After replacement of the tire pressure warning ECU*.
      • After replacement of the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter*.
      • Specified tire pressure changes depending on the size or type of the tire.

      HINT:

      *: Perform initialization after the transmitter ID registration is completed (See REGISTRATION ).

    2. Before initialization
      1. Set the air pressure of all wheels to the specified value (See INSPECTION ).
      NOTE: Make sure the tires are cooled down.
  3. INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE (TIRE PRESSURE WARNING SYSTEM) 
    1. Turn the power switch to ON.
    2. Press and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch for 3 seconds or more so that the tire pressure warning light blinks 3 times.
    3. Turn the power switch off.
    4. Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
    5. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the tester on.
    6. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Tire Pressure Monitor / Data List.
    7. Check that the initialization has been completed.

    8. Confirm that the tire pressure data of all tires are displayed on the tester screen.

      NOTE:
      • The initialization is normally completed within 2 to 3 minutes.
      • If the initialization has not been completed successfully, DTC C2177/77 is set after a vehicle speed of 8 km/h (5 mph) or more continues for 20 minutes or more.
      • The initialization can be terminated by connecting terminals TC and CG of the DLC3 connector.

  4. DESCRIPTION (ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE SYSTEM) 
    1. Perform initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration when the skid control ECU, brake actuator or brake pedal stroke sensor is replaced. Follow the procedure to perform initialization.

      HINT:

      • If there is a problem with the auxiliary battery (12 V) voltage, initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration cannot be completed normally. Make sure to check the auxiliary battery voltage before performing initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration.
      • If the actuator's temperature is high, initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration may not be completed normally. In such a case, wait until the temperature decreases and then perform initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration.
      • If the power switch is turned off, the brake pedal is operated or vehicle speed is input while the linear solenoid valve offset learning is being performed, the learning will be cancelled.

      1. Turn the power switch off.
      2. Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
      3. Move the shift lever to the P position.
      4. Turn the power switch on (IG) with the brake pedal released.
      5. Perform the Reset Memory function under the ABS/VSC/TRAC menu.
      6. Perform initialization of linear solenoid valve.
      7. Perform zero point calibration of yaw rate and acceleration sensor (See CALIBRATION ).
    2. Perform the initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration.
      1. Turn the power switch off.
      2. Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
      3. Move the shift lever to the P position.
      4. Turn the power switch on (IG) with the brake pedal released.
        NOTE:
      5. Set Techstream to Test Mode (select "ECB* Utility").

        HINT:

        Refer to the Techstream operator's manual for further details.

      6. Leave the vehicle stationary without depressing the brake pedal for 1 or 2 minutes.
      7. Check that the interval between blinks of the brake control warning light changes from 1 second to 0.25 seconds.

        HINT:

        • The time needed to complete initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration varies depending on auxiliary battery voltage.
        • The brake control warning light blinks at 1 second intervals during initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration and changes to the Test Mode display.
        • The brake control warning light blinks at 0.25 seconds intervals if the Test Mode is normal.

      8. Check that DTC C1345/66 which indicates trouble with stroke sensor zero point learning is not output when the brake control warning light changes to the Test Mode display upon initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration completion.
      9. Enter the normal mode from the Test Mode following Techstream prompts.

      HINT:

      Refer to the Techstream operator's manual for further details.

  6. PERFORM INITIALIZATION OF LINEAR SOLENOID VALVE AND CALIBRATION (SST CHECK WIRE) (ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE SYSTEM) 
    1. Clear the stored value of linear solenoid valve and calibration data.

      1. Turn the power switch off.
      2. Move the shift lever to the P position.
      3. Turn the power switch on (IG) with the brake pedal released.
      4. Using SST, connect and disconnect terminals TS and CG of the DLC3 4 times or more within 8 seconds.

        SST 09843-18040 

      5. Check that no codes other than ABS code 42, VSC code 45 and Electronically Controlled Brake code 48, 66, or 95 are stored in the diagnostic system.

        HINT:

        • The ABS warning, brake control warning lights and multi information display do not indicate the normal system code.
        • Illustrations may differ from the actual screen displayed depending on the specifications of the vehicle and customized settings.
      6. Remove the SST from the terminals of the DLC3.
      7. Using the check wire, perform initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration.
    2. Perform initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration.
      1. Turn the power switch off.
      2. Using SST, connect terminals TS and CG of the DLC3.

        SST 09843-18040 

      3. Move the shift lever to the P position.
      4. Turn the power switch on (IG) with the brake pedal released.
        NOTE:

      5. Leave the vehicle stationary without depressing the brake pedal for 1 or 2 minutes.

      7. Check that DTC C1345/66 which indicates trouble with stroke sensor zero point learning is not output when the brake control warning light changes to the Test Mode display upon initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration completion.
      8. Turn the power switch off and disconnect the SST from the DLC3.
  7. ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR VALUE INITIALIZATION AND TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION (ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM) 
    NOTE: Clear the rotation angle sensor calibration value, initialize the rotation angle sensor value, and calibrate the torque sensor zero point if any of the following has occurred:
    • The power steering ECU assembly has been replaced.
    • The power steering link assembly has been replaced.
    • Steering effort differs between left and right.
    1. Inspection before calibration
      1. Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
      2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
      3. Turn Techstream on.
      4. Check the IG power supply voltage on the tester screen. Enter the following menus: Chassis / EMPS / Data List.

      NOTE: If the IG power supply voltage is 10 V or less, calibration cannot be performed. In this case, charge or replace the battery, and then perform calibration.
    2. Rotation angle sensor calibration value clear, rotation angle sensor value initialization, and torque sensor zero point calibration.
      NOTE:
      • If DTC C1516 (Torque Sensor Zero Point Adjustment Incomplete) is stored, the torque sensor zero point cannot be calibrated. Clear the DTC before starting calibration.
      • If DTC C1526 (Rotation Angle Sensor Initialization Incomplete) is stored, the rotation angle sensor value cannot be initialized. Clear the DTC before starting initialization.
      1. Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
      2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
      3. Turn Techstream on.
      4. Enter the following menus: Chassis / EMPS / Utility / Torque / Sensor Adjustment.
      5. Follow the procedures on the tester display to clear the rotation angle sensor calibration value, initialize the rotation angle sensor value, and calibrate the torque sensor zero point.
        NOTE:
        • When initializing the rotation angle sensor value, observe the following to stabilize sensor voltage:

          After turning the power switch on (IG), wait for at least 2.5 seconds before turning the steering wheel. Do not turn the steering wheel quickly.

        • The steering wheel will vibrate during torque sensor zero point calibration. Do not touch the steering wheel while it is vibrating or for 2 seconds after it stops.
  8. ZERO POINT CALIBRATION (OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM) 
    NOTE: Make sure that the front passenger seat is not occupied before performing the operation:

    HINT:

    Perform zero point calibration and sensitivity check if any of the following conditions occur.

    • The occupant classification ECU is replaced.
    • Accessories (seatback tray and seat cover, etc.) are installed.
    • The front passenger seat is removed from the vehicle.
    • The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator ("OFF") comes on when the front passenger seat is not occupied.
    • The vehicle is brought to the workshop for repair due to an accident or a collision.
    1. Zero point calibration and sensitivity check procedures.

      HINT:

      Make sure that zero point calibration has finished normally, and then perform the sensitivity check.

      1. Check that all of the following conditions are met:
        • The vehicle is parked on a level surface.
        • No objects are placed on the front passenger seat.
        • The front passenger seat belt buckle switch is OFF.
      2. Adjust the seat position according to the table below.

      3. Turn the power switch off.
      4. Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
      5. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the tester on.
      6. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Occupant Detection / Zero Point Calibration.
      7. Perform the zero point calibration by following the prompts on the tester screen.

        HINT:

        • Refer to the Techstream operator's manual for further details.
        • If the zero point calibration does not complete, replace the front seat assembly RH.

        OK: "Zero Point calibration is complete." is displayed. 

    2. Sensitivity check procedures
      1. Turn the power switch off.
      2. Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
      3. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the tester on.
      4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Occupant Detection / Zero Point Calibration.
      5. Perform the sensitivity check by following the prompts on the tester screen.

        HINT:

        Refer to the Techstream operator's manual for further details.

      6. Confirm that the beginning sensor reading within standard value.

        Standard value: 

        -3.2 to 3.2 kg (-7 to 7 lb) 

      7. Place a 30 kg (66.14 lb) weight (eg. a 30 kg (66.14 lb) of lead mass) onto the front passenger seat.
      8. Confirm that the sensitivity is within the standard value.

        Standard value: 

        27 to 33 kg (59.52 to 72.75 lb) 

        HINT:

        • When performing the sensitivity check, use a solid metal weight (the check result may not appear properly if the weight made from liquid is used).
        • If the sensitivity deviates from the specified range, retighten the bolts of the front passenger seat without deforming the seat rail. After performing this procedure, if the sensitivity is not within the specified range, replace the front seat assembly RH.
  9. DESCRIPTION OF CODE REGISTRATION (ENGINE IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM) 

    HINT:

    • ID codes are the same as recognition codes for the wireless transmitter and the engine immobiliser function. Registering an ID code enables the smart key system, the wireless door lock control function and the engine immobiliser function to be operated.
    • Code registration is needed when the certification ECU, ID code box, steering lock ECU or key is replaced with a new one.
    1. PROCEDURE "1"

      The vehicle with the smart key system does not have a key slot. Therefore, hold the key close to the power switch to register the key, as shown in the illustration below.

  10. PART REPLACEMENT KEY REGISTRATION (ENGINE IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM) 

    The following table shows ECU replacement and key registration procedures in case the malfunctioning ECU has been identified after troubleshooting the smart key system.

    HINT:

    • The following procedures indicated in the table below require the use of Techstream:

      New key ID registration

      Additional key ID registration

      Key ID erasure

      ECU code registration

    • If all of the registered keys are not available, replacement of the ID code box is also required.
    • A maximum of 7 keys can be registered.

      The mode is automatically selected by tester, new registration mode or add mode.
      3. Verification of unregistered key (1) Hold unregistered key close to power switch (For details, refer to PROCEDURE "1")

    6. PROCEDURE "F"

      ECU communication ID registration

      NOTE:
      • The ECU communication ID should be registered when the ID code box and/or the hybrid vehicle control ECU is replaced in order to match these ECU communication ID.
      • The engine cannot be started unless the ECU communication ID matches.
      • After the registration, pressing the power switch may not start the hybrid control system on the first try. If so, press the power switch again.
      • After the hybrid control system is started, erase DTC B2799-542, 790 (code for hybrid vehicle control ECU's immobiliser communication error).

      Register the ECU communication ID.

      1. Using SST, connect terminals TC and CG of the DLC3.

        SST 09843-18040 

      2. Turn the power switch on (IG) and leave it for 30 minutes.

        HINT:

        Do not start the engine.

      3. Turn the power switch off and disconnect terminals TC and CG.
      4. Check that the hybrid control system.

        OK: Hybrid control system starts and stays on for more than 3 seconds. 

        HINT:

        Using an already registered key, turn the power switch on (IG) with the brake pedal depressed.

  12. INITIALIZE SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY (SLIDING ROOF SYSTEM) 
    NOTE: When replacing the sliding roof drive gear, the sliding roof drive gear requires initialization. If a reset is not executed, the following functions do not operate: auto operation and key off operation.
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    2. Make sure that the sliding roof is fully closed.
    3. Push and hold the CLOSE switch or the UP switch until the following movement finishes: Tilt up → approximately 1 second → tilt down → slide open → slide closed.
    4. Check that the sliding roof stops at the fully closed position.
    5. Finish the initialization.
    6. Check that the AUTO operation works normally.
      NOTE: If the following conditions occur during initialization procedure, initialization will fail:
      • Power switch is turned off.
      • Sliding roof control switch is released while sliding roof is operating.
      • Vehicle speed is 5 km/h (3 mph) or more.
      • Communication is cut off.
      • Another switch is turned on during initialization.
      • The vehicle experiences a strong vibration during initialization, such as the slamming of a door.

      HINT:

      • If the sliding roof cannot be fully closed or its position has become misaligned, perform initialization again.
      • If the roof glass stops moving or starts moving in the opposite direction while the CLOSE or UP switch is held down, continue to hold the switch for another 10 seconds or more to return the sliding roof control ECU to an uninitialized condition. Then perform the initialization procedure again.
      • If the AUTO operation function and jam protection function do not operate after the drive gear has been reset, replace the sliding roof drive gear (sliding roof ECU).
