Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK VEHICLE CONDITION 

    Result 

    RESULT REFERENCE CHART

    Result Proceed to
    Daytime running light does not come on. A
    High beam headlight does not come on (Low beam headlight is normal). B

    B: Go to step  12

    A: Go to next step. 

  2. INSPECT RELAY (DRL NO. 2 AND DRL NO. 3) 
    1. Inspect the DRL No. 2 relay.
      1. Remove the DRL No. 2 relay from the engine room relay block.
      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard resistance 

        RESISTANCE REFERENCE CHART

        Tester connection Specified condition
        3 - 5 10 kΩ or higher
        3 - 5 Below 1 Ω (When battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 - 2)

    2. Inspect the DRL No. 3 relay.
      1. Remove the DRL No. 3 relay from the engine room relay block.
      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard resistance 

        RESISTANCE REFERENCE CHART

        Tester connection Specified condition
        3 - 4 Below 1 Ω
        3 - 4 10 kΩ or higher (When battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 - 2)

    NG: REPLACE RELAY 

    OK: Go to next step. 

  3. INSPECT DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT RESISTOR

    1. Remove the daytime running light resistor.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE REFERENCE CHART

      Tester connection Condition Specified resistance
      1 - 2 Always Approx. 337 mΩ

    NG: REPLACE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT RESISTOR 

    OK: Go to next step. 

  4. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the 2C connector from the instrument panel junction block assembly.

    2. Using a service wire, connect 2C-23 of the wire harness side and body ground.

      OK: Daytime running light (dimmed high beam headlight) comes on. 

    NG: Go to step 5 

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

  5. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure the voltage between the terminal on the wire harness side and body ground.

      Standard voltage 

      VOLTAGE CHART

      Tester connection Condition Specified voltage (V)
      2C-23 - Body ground Always 10 to 14 V

    OK: Go to step  7

    NG: Go to next step. 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - DRL NO. 2 RELAY TERMINAL 1) 
    1. Remove the DRL No. 2 relay from the engine room relay block.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage 

      VOLTAGE CHART

      Engine room relay block DRL No. 2 relay terminal 1 - Body ground Always 10 to 14 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (BATTERY - DRL NO. 2 RELAY TERMINAL 1) 

    OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK - DRL NO. 2 RELAY TERMINAL 2) 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - DRL NO. 2 RELAY TERMINAL 3)

    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage 

      VOLTAGE CHART

      Tester connection Condition Specified voltage (V)
      Engine room relay block DRL No. 2 relay terminal 3 - Body ground Always 10 to 14 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step. 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DRL NO. 2 RELAY TERMINAL 5 - BULB LH) 
    1. Disconnect the 2C connector from the instrument panel junction block assembly.

    2. Using a service wire, connect 2C-23 of the wire harness side and body ground.
    3. Disconnect the H1 bulb connector.

    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage 

      VOLTAGE CHART

      Tester connection Condition Specified voltage (V)
      H1-1 (LH side) - Body ground Always 10 to 14 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step. 

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BULB LH - BULB RH) 
    1. Disconnect the H3 bulb connector

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage 

      VOLTAGE CHART

      Tester connection Condition Specified voltage (V)
      H3-2 (RH side) - Body ground Always 10 to 14 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step. 

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BULB RH - DRL NO. 3 RELAY TERMINAL 3) 
    1. Remove the DRL No. 3 relay.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage 

      VOLTAGE CHART

      Tester connection Condition Specified voltage (V)
      Engine room relay block DRL No. 3 relay terminal 3 - Body ground Always 10 to 14 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step. 

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DRL NO. 3 RELAY TERMINAL 4 - DRL RESISTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the D13 daytime running light resistor connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage 

      VOLTAGE CHART

      Tester connection Condition Specified voltage (V)
      D13-1 - Body ground Always 10 to 14 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (DRL NO. 3 RELAY TERMINAL 4 - DRL RESISTOR) 

    OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (DRL RESISTOR - BODY GROUND) 

  12. INSPECT RELAY (DRL NO. 2, DRL NO. 3 AND DRL NO. 4) 
    1. Inspect the DRL No. 2 and DRL No. 4 relays.
      1. Remove the DRL No. 2 relay and DRL No. 4 relay from the engine room relay block.
      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard resistance 

        RESISTANCE REFERENCE CHART

        Tester connection Specified condition
        3 - 5 10 kΩ or higher
        3 - 5 Below 1 Ω (When battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 - 2)

    2. Inspect the DRL No. 3 relay.
      1. Remove the DRL No. 3 relay from the engine room relay block.
      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard resistance 

        RESISTANCE REFERENCE CHART

        Tester connection Specified condition
        3 - 5 10 kΩ or higher
        3 - 5 Below 1 Ω (When battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 - 2)
        3 - 4 10 kΩ or higher (When battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 - 2)

    NG: REPLACE RELAY 

    OK: Go to next step. 

  13. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the 2C connector from the instrument panel junction block assembly.

    2. Using a service wire, connect 2C-10 of the wire harness side and body ground.
    3. Using a service wire, connect 2C-23 of the wire harness side and body ground.

      OK: High beam headlight comes on. 

    NG: Go to step 14 

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

  14. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure the voltage between the terminal on the wire harness side and body ground.

      Standard voltage 

      VOLTAGE CHART

    OK: Go to step  16

    NG: Go to next step. 

  15. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - DRL NO. 2 RELAY TERMINAL 1)

    1. Remove the DRL No. 3 relay.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

  16. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - DRL NO. 2 RELAY TERMINAL 3)

    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  17. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DRL NO. 2 RELAY TERMINAL 5 - DRL NO. 3 RELAY TERMINAL 5) 
    1. Disconnect the 2C connector from the instrument panel junction block assembly.

    2. Using a service wire, connect 2C-10 of the wire harness side and body ground.
    3. Using a service wire, connect 2C-23 of the wire harness side and body ground.
    4. Remove the DRL No. 3 relay.
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  18. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DRL NO. 2 RELAY AND DRL NO. 3 RELAY - BULB) 
    1. Disconnect the H1 and H3 bulb connectors

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

    1. Remove the DRL No. 3 relay.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
