Inspection Procedure
- CHECK STOP LIGHT SWITCH OPERATION
- Check that the stop lights come on when the brake pedal is depressed and go off when the brake pedal is released.
OK
BRAKE PEDAL CONDITION CHARTPedal condition Illumination Condition Brake pedal depressed ON Brake pedal released OFF HINT:
Check the stop light bulbs as they may have burnt out.
NG: Go to step 4
OK: Go To Next Step
- Check that the stop lights come on when the brake pedal is depressed and go off when the brake pedal is released.
- INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (STP TERMINAL VOLTAGE)
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
- Measure the voltage.
Standard Voltage
STANDARD VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Condition Specified Condition S1-7 (STP) - Body ground Stop light switch ON (Brake pedal depressed) 8 to 14 V S1-7 (STP) - Body ground Stop light switch OFF (Brake pedal released) Below 1.5 V - Reconnect the skid control ECU connector.RESULT REFERENCE

A: Go To Next Step
- RECONFIRM DTC
- Clear the DTCs (See DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
- Check if the same DTCs are detected.DTC OUTPUT REFERENCE

B: END
A: REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER SOLENOID
- INSPECT STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the stop light switch connector.
- Measure the resistance.
Standard Resistance
STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONSwitch Connection Tester Condition Specified Condition Switch pin free 1 - 2 Below 1 Ω Switch pin pushed in 1 - 2 10 kΩ or higher - Reconnect the stop light switch connector.
NG: REPLACE STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY
OK: Go To Next Step
- INSPECT STOP LIGHT CONTROL RELAY
- Remove the STOP LP CTRL relay from the engine room R/B and J/B.
- Measure the resistance.
Standard Resistance
STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Specified Condition 3 - 4 Below 1 Ω 3 - 5 10 kΩ or higher - Apply the battery voltage between terminals 1 (+) and 2 (-).
- Measure the resistance.
Standard Resistance
STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Specified Condition 3 - 4 10 kΩ or higher 3 - 5 Below 1 Ω - Reinstall the STOP LP CTRL relay.
NG: REPLACE STOP LIGHT CONTROL RELAY
OK: Go To Next Step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - STOP LIGHT SWITCH)
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
- Disconnect the stop light switch connector.
- Measure the resistance.
Standard Resistance
STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Specified Condition S1-45 (STP2) - S10-1 (STP) Below 1 Ω - Reconnect the stop light switch connector.
- Reconnect the skid control ECU connector.
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK: Go To Next Step
