Inspection Procedure

NOTE: When replacing the master cylinder solenoid, perform zero point calibration (See CALIBRATION  ).
  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - 4WD CONTROL ECU - TRANSFER SHIFT ACTUATOR) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU and 4WD control ECU connectors.
    2. Disconnect the transfer shift actuator connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S28-27 (EXI) - F10-22 (P1) Always Below 1 Ω
      S28-27 (EXI) - T3-9 (CDL) Always Below 1 Ω
      S28-27 (EXI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

      OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT 4WD CONTROL ECU 
    1. Connect the 4WD control ECU connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage 

      VOLTAGE REFERENCE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S28-27 (EXI) - Body ground Center dlff. free 10 to 14 V

      NG: REPLACE 4WD CONTROL ECU

      OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT TRANSFER SHIFT ACTUATOR 
    1. Connect the transfer shift actuator connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage 

      VOLTAGE REFERENCE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S28-27 (EXI) - Body ground Center dlff. locked Below 1.5 V
      Center dlff. free 10 to 14 V

      NG: REPLACE TRANSFER SHIFT ACTUATOR

      OK: REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER SOLENOID  (See DISASSEMBLY )
