Air Pump: Inspection

  1. INSPECT AIR PUMP ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 0.4 to 1.0 Ω
      1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      2 - Body ground

      If the result is not as specified, replace the air pump assembly.

    2. Check the operation of the air pump.
      1. Check that air does not flow from port A to port B.

      2. Apply battery voltage to the connector, and check the air pump operation.

        OK 

        VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION

        Measurement Condition Specified Condition
        Battery positive (+) → Terminal 2
        Battery negative (-) → Terminal 1
        Air flows from port A to port B

        If the result is not as specified, replace the air pump assembly.

        NOTE:
        • Do not operate the air pump continuously for 2 minutes or more.
        • When operating the air pump, wait 5 minutes until the pump has cooled down between each operation. If the pump has not cooled down sufficiently, the motor will burn out.
