Back Door Glass: Removal
- TEST BACK DOOR CENTER GARNISH (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
- REMOVE BACK DOOR SIDE GARNISH LH (See DISASSEMBLY )
- REMOVE BACK DOOR SIDE GARNISH RH (See DISASSEMBLY )
- REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM BOARD ASSEMBLY (See DISASSEMBLY )
- REMOVE REAR SPOILER ASSEMBLY (w/ Rear Spoiler) (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE REAR WIPER ARM HEAD CAP (w/ Rear Wiper) (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE REAR WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY (w/ Rear Wiper) (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE REAR WIPER MOTOR GROMMET (w/ Rear Wiper) (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE REAR WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY (w/ Rear Wiper) (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE BACK DOOR GLASS
- Disconnect the 2 back door defogger connectors.
- Apply protective tape to the outer surface of the vehicle body to prevent scratches.NOTE: When separating the back door glass from the vehicle, be careful not to damage the vehicle's paint or interior/exterior ornaments.
- Pass a piano wire between the vehicle body and back door glass from the interior, as shown in the illustration.
- Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects that can serve as handle.
- Cut off the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the back door glass.NOTE: Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible when removing the back door glass.
- Using suction cups, disengage the 2 clips and remove the back door glass.
- REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS ADHESIVE DAM
- Using a scraper, remove the back window glass adhesive dam.
NOTE:- Be careful not to damage the windshield glass.
- Be sure to replace the back window glass adhesive dam with a new one.
- CLEAN BACK DOOR GLASS
- Clean the outer edge of the back door glass with a non-residue solvent.
NOTE:- Do not touch the back door glass surface after cleaning it.
- Be careful not to damage the glass.
- Even if using a new back door glass, clean the back door glass with a non-residue solvent.
- CLEAN VEHICLE BODY
- Using a scraper, remove the moulding and adhesive from the back door glass.
- Clean and shape the contact surface of the vehicle body.
- Using a knife, cut away excess adhesive on the contact surface of the vehicle body, as shown in the illustration.NOTE: Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
HINT:
Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible.
- Clean the contact surface of the vehicle body with a piece of cloth saturated with cleaner.
HINT:
Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the vehicle body.
- Using a knife, cut away excess adhesive on the contact surface of the vehicle body, as shown in the illustration.
