Air Conditioning Unit: Disassembly

  1. REMOVE TRANSPONDER KEY ECU  (See TRANSPONDER KEY ECU )

  2. REMOVE NO. 2 HEATER CONTROL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a screwdriver with its tip taped, disengage the claw and remove the No. 2 heater control cable sub-assembly.

  3. REMOVE AIR MIX DAMPER CONTROL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a screwdriver with its tip taped, disengage the claw and remove the air mix damper control cable sub-assembly.

  4. REMOVE QUICK HEATER ASSEMBLY (w/ PTC Heater) 
    1. Disengage each clamp.
    2. Remove the 2 screws.

    3. Remove the quick heater assembly as shown in the illustration.

  5. REMOVE CONSOLE MOUNTING BRACKET RH 
    1. Disengage the 2 claws to remove the console mounting bracket RH.

  6. REMOVE CONSOLE MOUNTING BRACKET LH 
    1. Remove the screw and the console mounting bracket LH.

  7. REMOVE DRAIN COOLER HOSE 
    1. Remove the drain cooler hose from the air conditioning radiator assembly.

  8. REMOVE HEATER RADIATOR UNIT SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the screw and the clamp.
    2. Remove the heater radiator unit sub-assembly from the air conditioning unit assembly.

  9. REMOVE COOLER EXPANSION VALVE 
    1. Using a 4 mm hexagon wrench, remove the 2 hexagon bolts and cooler expansion valve.

  10. REMOVE NO. 1 COOLER EVAPORATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 screws.

    2. Disengage the 4 claws and remove the lower heater case.

    3. Disengage the clamp, and remove the No. 1 cooler evaporator sub-assembly together with the No. 1 cooler thermistor.
    4. Remove the 2 O-rings from the No. 1 cooler evaporator sub-assembly.

  11. REMOVE NO. 1 COOLER THERMISTOR 
    1. Remove the No. 1 cooler thermistor from the No. 1 cooler evaporator sub-assembly.
