Knock Sensor, Intake Manifold: Removal: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  2. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 4WD and Pre-Runner) 
  3. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT  . Refer to REPLACEMENT - Step 1
  4. REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR  See step  4
  5. REMOVE THROTTLE WITH MOTOR BODY ASSEMBLY  See step  5
  6. DISCONNECT FUEL HOSE  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 7
  7. DISCONNECT FUEL HOSE NO. 2  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 8
  8. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD

    1. Disconnect the fuel vapor feed hose from the VSV.
    2. Disconnect the vacuum hose.

    3. Remove the bolt, then remove the clamp bracket.

    4. Disconnect the water by-pass hose No. 2.

    5. Disconnect the ventilation hose No. 3.

    6. Disconnect the VSV connector.

    7. Disengage the engine wire harness clamp.
    8. Disconnect the compressor magnetic clutch connector. (w/ AIR CONDITIONING)
    9. Disengage the wire harness clamp.
    10. Remove the bolt and harness clamp bracket.
    11. Disconnect the 3 connectors.

    12. Remove the nut shown in the illustration.
    13. Disconnect the engine wire harness from the relay block.
    14. Remove the 5 bolts and 2 nuts, then remove the intake manifold.

  9. REMOVE KNOCK CONTROL SENSOR

    1. Disconnect the knock control sensor connector.
    2. Remove the bolt, then remove the knock control sensor.
