Engine Switch: Inspection: Procedure

  1. INSPECT ENGINE SWITCH 
    1. Resistance Inspection
      1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

        Refer to REMOVAL

      2. Remove the upper column cover.

        Refer to REMOVAL

      3. Remove the meter hood.

        Refer to REMOVAL

      4. Remove the engine switch.

        Refer to REMOVAL 

      5. Verify that the continuity between the engine switch terminals is as indicated in the table.

        If not as indicated in the table, replace the engine switch.

        Refer to REMOVAL 

    2. LED Illumination Inspection
      1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

        Refer to REMOVAL

      2. Remove the upper column cover.

        Refer to REMOVAL

      3. Remove the meter hood.

        Refer to REMOVAL

      4. Remove the engine switch.

        Refer to REMOVAL 

      5. Apply battery positive voltage and connect the ground to the engine switch terminals and verify that the LED illuminates as indicated in the table.

        1. If the LED does not illuminate as indicated in the table, replace the engine switch.
