Replacement [07/2020 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE COWL VENT COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  2. FILL RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID 
    1. Remove the brake master cylinder reservoir filler cap.

    2. Top up the brake fluid expansion tank to the lower edge of the thread (1) with new brake fluid.

      NOTE:

      Use only approved brake fluids, see operating fluids.

  3. BLEED REAR BRAKE 
    NOTE:
    • Bleed the brake line of the wheel farthest from the master cylinder first.
    • Add brake fluid to keep the level between the MIN and MAX lines of the reservoir while bleeding the brake lines.

    HINT: 

    • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
    • The following procedure is for the LH side.
    1. Start flushing at the rear right.
    2. Connect a vinyl tube to the bleeder plug (1) on rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

    3. Depress the brake pedal several times, and then loosen the bleeder plug with the pedal depressed.*1
    4. When fluid stops coming out, tighten the bleeder plug and release the brake pedal.*2
    5. Repeat steps *1 and *2 until all the air in the brake fluid is completely bled out and new brake fluid comes out.
    6. Tighten the bleeder plug completely.

      except 4-Pot Front Caliper 

      Torque: 15 N.m (153 kgf/cm, 11 ft.lbf) 

      for 4-Pot Front Caliper 

      Torque: 18 N.m (184 kgf/cm, 13 ft.lbf) 

    7. Carry out the same procedure on the rear left wheel brake.
  4. BLEED FRONT BRAKE 
    NOTE:
    • Bleed the brake line of the wheel farthest from the master cylinder first.
    • Add brake fluid to keep the level between the MIN and MAX lines of the reservoir while bleeding the brake lines.

    HINT: 

    • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
    • The following procedure is for the LH side.
    1. Start flushing at the front right.
    2. for 4-Pot Caliper:
      1. Connect a vinyl tube to the bleeder plug (1) on front disc brake cylinder assembly.

      2. Depress the brake pedal several times, and then loosen the bleeder plug with the pedal depressed.*1
      3. When fluid stops coming out, tighten the bleeder plug and release the brake pedal.*2
      4. Repeat steps *1 and *2 until all the air in the brake fluid is completely bled out and new brake fluid comes out.
      5. Tighten the bleeder plug completely.

        Torque: 18 N.m (184 kgf/cm, 13 ft.lbf) 

    3. Connect a vinyl tube to the bleeder plug (1) on front disc brake cylinder assembly.

    4. Depress the brake pedal several times, and then loosen the bleeder plug with the pedal depressed.*1
    5. When fluid stops coming out, tighten the bleeder plug and release the brake pedal.*2

    7. Tighten the bleeder plug completely.

      except 4-Pot Front Caliper 

      Torque: 15 N.m (153 kgf/cm, 11 ft.lbf) 

      for 4-Pot Front Caliper 

      Torque: 18 N.m (184 kgf/cm, 13 ft.lbf) 

    8. Carry out the same procedure on the front left wheel brake.
    9. Install the brake master cylinder reservoir filler cap.

      HINT: 

      Check the seal (1) on the sealing cap, replace if necessary.

  5. INSPECT FOR BRAKE FLUID LEAK 
  6. INSPECT BRAKE FLUID LEVEL IN RESERVOIR 

    Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [03/2019 - ]

  7. INSTALL COWL VENT COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  8. PERFORM CBS RESET 

    Refer to CONDITION BASED SERVICE (CBS) [03/2019 - ]
