Inspection [07/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT SENSOR OUTPUT VALUE 
    NOTE:

    Resistance inspection using other testers may cause damage to the front speed sensor internal circuit. Be sure to use the Techstream to inspect the front speed sensor.

    1. Switch the ignition off.
    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    4. Turn the Techstream on.
    5. Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/DSC/TCS / Data List / Wheel Speed Sensor (Left Front), Wheel Speed Sensor (Right Front).

      Chassis > ABS/DSC/TCS > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Wheel Speed Sensor (Left Front)
      Wheel Speed Sensor (Right Front)
    6. Start the engine and drive the vehicle.
    7. Verify that the display of the Techstream shows the same value as the speedometer.
  2. INSPECT INSTALLATION VISUAL 
    1. Inspect for the following:
      • If there is any malfunction, repair or replace the part.
      1. Excessive play of the front speed sensor
      2. Deformation of the front speed sensor
      3. Deformation or damage of the ABS sensor rotor
      4. Adhering foreign matter
  3. INSPECT CLEARANCE, PREPARATION PRIOR 
    1. Remove the front speed sensor.

      Refer to REMOVAL [07/2015 - ] 

    2. Remove the wheel hub and steering knuckle as a single unit.

      Refer to REMOVAL [07/2015 - ]

    3. Install the front speed sensor to the removed wheel hub, steering knuckle component, and tighten to the specified torque.

      Torque: 9 N*m (92 kgf*cm, 80 in.*lbf)

  4. INSPECT CLEARANCE 
    1. Measure the gap between the front speed sensor and ABS sensor rotor using a feelergauge.

      Clearance

      1.815 to 2.835 mm (0.0715 to 0.1116 in.)

  5. INSPECT SERVICING AFTER 
    1. Remove the front speed sensor from the wheel hub, steering knuckle component.
    2. Install the wheel hub, steering knuckle component.

      Refer to INSTALLATION [07/2015 - ]

    3. Install the front speed sensor.

      Refer to INSTALLATION [07/2015 - ] 

    4. Inspect the front wheel alignment.

      Refer to ADJUSTMENT [07/2015 - ]
