Side Step Removal And Installation/Replacement

Removal Procedure: 

The procedure for the left-hand component is identical to that for the right-hand side. 

1. Lift the vehicle. Refer to LIFTING AND JACKING THE VEHICLE
2. Remove front side door. Refer to FRONT SIDE DOOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
3. Remove rear side door. Refer to REAR SIDE DOOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
4. Remove front wheel opening molding. Refer to FRONT WHEEL OPENING MOLDING REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT 
5. Remove rear wheel opening molding. Refer to REAR WHEEL OPENING MOLDING REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT 
6. Remove rear tire air deflector. Refer to REAR TIRE AIR DEFLECTOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT

7. Remove rivet (1) from rear wheelhouse.

8. Remove 2 rivets (1) from front wheelhouse.

9. Remove 8 screws (2).

   Torque: 2.6 Nm

10. Unclip and remove 3 sealing plugs (1).

11. Remove 3 bolts (1).

    Torque: 19 Nm

12. Unclip and remove 3 lids (1).

13. Remove 3 bolts (1).

    Torque: 19 Nm

14. Disengage 10 clips (1).
15. Remove side step (2) in arrow direction.

Installation note: Replace clips (1) if they are damaged. 

Replacement Procedure:

1. Unclip and remove the side step lining (1).

   Installation note: Check all latches for damage, and replace the lining if needed.

2. Remove 11 blind rivets (1) (drill 8 mm or equivalent).
3. Remove the side step guard (2).

4. Remove 12 rivets (1).

5. Remove the side step reinforcement (1) from the outer casing (2) in arrow direction.

Installation Procedure: 

1. Installation is the reverse of removal procedure, noting the following.

   All fasteners must be tightened to torque specification! 

2. Install rear tire air deflector. Refer to REAR TIRE AIR DEFLECTOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
3. Install rear wheel opening molding. Refer to REAR WHEEL OPENING MOLDING REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT 
4. Install front wheel opening molding. Refer to FRONT WHEEL OPENING MOLDING REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT 
5. Install rear side door. Refer to REAR SIDE DOOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
6. Install front side door. Refer to FRONT SIDE DOOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
