- Only appropriately trained persons may carry out work on pyrotechnic components or the Airbag Control Unit.
- Perform SRS disabling procedure prior to commencing work.
- When replacing components of the SRS system, never install used or non-genuine components.
- Pyrotechnic Components must be handled and scrapped appropriately.
Removal Procedure:
- There is potential for inadvertent deployment of SRS systems during repairs if the system has not been properly disabled. Refer to SRS DISABLING AND ENABLING NOTE: Ensure the 2-minute wait time has been observed before proceeding to next step.
- Disconnect the 12V battery negative terminal. Refer to 12V BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION
- Remove instrument panel upper trim panel. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL UPPER TRIM PANEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
- Remove 2 screws
(1).
Torque: 3.5 Nm
- Lift the passenger airbag IP Module (2) out of the anchorage at the indicated points and remove it from the trim panel (3). Proper care must be taken when handling and disposing of Airbag components. Refer to SRS HANDLING AND SCRAPPING
Installation Procedure:
- Installation is the reverse of removal procedure, noting the following.
All fasteners must be tightened to torque specification!
- Install instrument panel upper trim panel. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL UPPER TRIM PANEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
- Reconnect the 12V battery negative terminal. Refer to 12V BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION
