Airbag Control Module Removal And Installation/Replacement

Failure to follow specified procedures may result in death or serious injury due to improper handling of airbag control module possible.

Only appropriately trained persons may carry out work on pyrotechnic components or the Airbag Control Unit.
Perform SRS disabling procedure prior to commencing work.
When replacing components of the SRS system, never install used or non-genuine components.
Pyrotechnic Components must be handled and scrapped appropriately.

Removal Procedure:

There is potential for inadvertent deployment of SRS systems during repairs if the system has not been properly disabled. Refer to SRS DISABLING AND ENABLING
NOTE: Ensure the 2-minute wait time has been observed before proceeding to next step.
Disconnect the 12V battery negative terminal. Refer to 12V BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION
Remove Front Floor Console. Refer to FRONT FLOOR CONSOLE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
Remove both bolts (1).
Torque: 3.5 Nm
Remove bracket (2).
Lift left-hand air duct (1) at rear and release catch (2).
Pull off left hand air duct (1) to the rear and remove it.
Lift right-hand air duct (1) at rear and release catch (2).
Pull off right hand air duct (1) to the rear and remove it.
Unlock and disconnect electrical connector (1).
Remove 3 nuts (1).
Torque: 9 Nm
Guide out and remove airbag control module (2).

Installation Procedure:

Installation is the reverse of removal procedure, noting the following
All fasteners must be tightened to torque specification!
Install Front Floor Console. Refer to FRONT FLOOR CONSOLE REMOVAL ANDINSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
Reconnect the 12V battery negative terminal. Refer to 12V BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION
