B1961 - Power Liftgate Chime Control Circuit High: Notes

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to appropriate Wiring Diagram

• >>When Monitored:<< Whenever the Power Liftgate Module is awake.
• >>Set Condition:<< The power liftgate module has detected the chime circuit voltage is over four volts during operation or over 1.5 volts when not operating.

Possible Causes
(Q94) LIFTGATE CHIME DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
(Q94) LIFTGATE CHIME DRIVER CIRCUIT OPEN
(Z910) GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN
POWER LIFTGATE CHIME
POWER LIFTGATE MODULE (PLGM)

Test Step 1 - DTC PRESENT

• With the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
• Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
• Operate the liftgate several times.
• With the scan tool, read the active DTCs.

Does the scan tool display: B1961-POWER LIFTGATE CHIME CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGH?

Yes

• Go to Test Step 2 Test Step 2 - (Q94) LIFTGATE CHIME DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE 

No

• Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and poor pin fit.
• Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
