ATF Level, Checking

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Note the following information: 

Requirements

WARNING:

Risk of injury due to hot transmission fluid.

Checking 

-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester and identify the vehicle in Guided Functions  .

-- Select check ATF level  .

NOTE:

Let the transmission cool down if the fluid temperature is higher than 45 °C (113 °F).

-- Place the : SMN372500  under the transmission near the ATF check plug.

-- Remove the ATF check plug -1-.

-- The ATF drain plug with the overflow tube -3- and seal -4- must stay in the transmission -5-.

NOTE:

Replace the seal -2-.

NOTE:

Even if the transmission fluid level is low, a small amount of transmission fluid will flow out of the overflow tube -3- since it fills during operation.

ATF flows out of the overflow tube.

-- Let the excess fluid drain.

-- Install the plug with a new seal as soon as the fluid has drained out (it starts to drip).

-- If no oil flows out, the oil must be filled.

CAUTION:

Too little or too much fluid will impair the function of the transmission.

Filling 

-- Shake the fluid containers before opening.

-- Fill one liter of ATF.

If ATF Flows Out of the Adapter Hole:

ATF does not need to be topped off.

-- Allow the ATF to drain until it drips.

-- Install the ATF check plug with a new seal. The ATF level test is now completed.

If No ATF Drips out of the Hole:

-- Add another liter. Refer to Filling  above.

CAUTION:

Too little or too much fluid will impair the function of the transmission.
