Transaxle Disassembly
- Place transmission in a holding fixture. Remove torque converter. Remove oil pan and gasket. Remove only 12mm Torx bolts using special tool and remove valve body.
- Lift out 8 retaining circlips from 4 oil supply bores in transmission case and withdraw 8 compression springs. Using puller thread into sleeves, remove 8 sealing sleeves from oil bores. Screw tool into sleeve and pull out sharply.
- Lock transmission output shaft by engaging parking gear. Hold output flange using tool stationary. Remove lock ring, retaining nut using tool and remove output flange. Remove extension housing. Using a puller, pull off speedometer drive gear. Remove washer and snap ring.
- Pull off parking lock gear and governor. Remove parking lock pawl, spring and loosen governor assembly retaining nut. Unscrew governor stud about 3 turns and pull governor off shaft. Remove torque converter housing with oil pump, seal, intermediate plate, thrust washer, needle bearing and angled disc. Remove and separate components. Remove input shaft and clutch A. See Fig 1

- Remove clutch A carrier plate, plastic thrust washer and metal thrust washer. Remove clutch B snap ring. Using 2 hooks, remove clutch B. See Fig 2
. Catch washer and seal as they are pulled out with clutch B.

- Remove large snap ring and place special tool on intermediate shaft. Pull out entire unit. See Fig 3

- Remove angled washer, axial bearing and thrust washer. Keep components in order for reassembly. Remove 4th gear clutch set as a complete unit. See Fig 4
