Signal description ABS: Notes

All the values shown are between the connection shown in column 1 and connection #8 or #24 (ground), except where shown in brackets

NOTE:

It is important to connect the test box and check the contact points as per Connecting the breakout box  before starting testing

U= DC voltage, volts (V) Ubat= Battery voltage (V) Ulow= Voltage close to 0 V UAC= AC voltage (V)

Conn.  Signal type  Ignition on/idling  Other notes
#1 Signal (-)
wheel sensor RH rear
U ≈ 2, 3V
#2 Signal (-)
wheel sensor LH rear
U ≈ 2, 3 V
#3 Signal (+), wheel sensor RH front U ≈ 2, 3 V UAC increases with wheel speed Min 150 mV AC when wheel speed is 1 r/s
#4 Signal (+)
wheel sensor LH front
U ≈ 2, 3 V UAC increases with wheel speed Min 150 mV AC when wheel speed is 1r/s
#5 Signal (+)
EBD-pressure sensor
Closed: U = 5 - 6 V Open: 1 - 2 V less than Ubat Pressure sensor opens when braking hard
#6 Signal
Speed (To instrument panel)
U = 0 - U bat Voltage depends on position of front wheel
#7 Signal (-)
EBD-pressure sensor
Open: U ≈ Ul g Closed: U = 5 - 6 V Pressure sensor opens when braking hard
#8 Ground (measured towards the battery negative terminal) U ≈ Ulow
#9 30-supply
Inlet and outlet valves (Voltage from battery to inlet and outlet valves)
U ≈ Ubat Voltage to inlet and outlet valves and signal to control module on voltage supply to inlet and outlet valves
#10 Signal (+)
wheel sensor LH rear
U ≈ 2, 3 V UAC increases with the wheel speed min 150 mV AC when wheel speed is 1 r/s
Conn.  Signal type  Ignition on/idling  Other notes
#11 Signal (-)
wheel sensor LH front
U ≈ 2,3 V
#12 Signal
Brake light switch
Open: U = Ulow Closed: U =Ubat Brake light switch cuts out on braking
#13 Data Link Connector U ≈ 1 - 2 V under Ubat Note: Other voltages apply if the Volvo System Tester is connected to the Data Link Connector
#14
#15 Signal
TRACS control signal circuit switch
TRACS warning light
Light on: U = 0 -7 V Light off: U = Ubat Switch pressed: U = Ulow The signal is grounded when the switch is pressed, TRACS is switched on/off. If the TRACS warning light comes on, TRACS is disabled.
#16 ABS control signal warning light Light on: U over approx. 7V Light off: U = Ulow If the control module grounds the signal, the ABS warning light goes out. The warning light comes on if the control module increases voltage over 7V
#17 Signal (+)
wheel sensor RH rear
U ≈ 2,3 V UAC increases with the wheel's speed Min 150 mV AC at a wheel speed of 1 r/s
