Fault Conditions

Control units communicate with each other over a network via a standardized serial method of communication - CAN (Controller Area Network) - and exchange information. If ECM registers a software fault where software does not correspond to the rest of vehicle configuration, ECM will not communicate with other units ECM-E003 is set.

No substitute value is used but some systems are disabled. CAN communication is absent. Cruise control is disabled. Fuel shut-off depends on accelerator pedal position and electronic throttle unit closes during braking.

Electronic Throttle System (ETS) Warning Light is lit while ECM-E003 is set. DTC can cause uneven idle and heavy jerking during acceleration and engine braking.
