Checking Ground Circuits For Instrument Panel

1. Disconnect instrument panel connectors. Check that male and female terminals in instrument panel and cable harness connectors are intact and secure. Connect Adapter (981 3194) to instrument panel connectors "A" and "B" as shown, and connect Breakout Box (981 3190) to adapter. See Fig 1 .
2. Turn off all equipment that takes power from the battery (courtesy lighting, radio etc.). Connect DVOM between battery negative terminal and terminals No. 15 and 17 on breakout box. If DVOM indicates approximately zero ohms at both terminals, ground circuits are okay.
3. If DVOM indicates other than approximately zero ohms at both terminals, check for open circuit between ground and terminals A15 and A17 at instrument panel connectors. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If circuits are okay, check for poor connections or corroded terminals and repair as necessary.
