Tailgate System

The task of the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) is to check the tailgate's electro-hydraulic opening and closing mechanism. To achieve this, it is included in a system together with the following components:

1	Pinch sensors (Not vehicle manufactured after structure week 200947)	-	Their task is to prevent entrapment injuries by transmitting a signal to the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) if something obstructs the tailgate's movement, so that it is cancelled. The pinch sensors are located in the moldings on the tailgate and register pressure all the way along these.
2	Load sensor	Hydraulic pump (6/148)	Transmits a signal to the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) when the upper limit position has been reached or if something obstructs the tailgate's movement. Is located on the hydraulic system's pressure valve on the hydraulic pump.
3	Switch handle	License plate lighting (10/3)	Used for opening the tailgate. Located in the centre of the outside of the tailgate.
4	Switch closing boot lid	-	Button for closing the tailgate. Is located on the lower edge of the tailgate.
5	Hydraulic cylinder	-	Opens or closes the tailgate. Is located by the left-hand hinge.
6	Hydraulic pump	-	Pumps hydraulic fluid between tank and piston. Is located under the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT), to the left in the cargo compartment.
7	Motor closing, boot lid	-	Pulls in the tailgate the last bit. Is located by the lock unit in the tailgate.
8	Motor unlocking	Tailgate lock unit (3/78)	Releases the tailgate when it is to be opened.
9	Sensor 1 (inner lock position)	Tailgate lock unit (3/78)	Detects, together with Sensor 2 (outer lock position) if the tailgate is fully closed, in the outer lock position or open.
10	Sensor 2 (outer lock position)	Tailgate lock unit (3/78)	Detects, together with Sensor 1 (inner lock position) if the tailgate is fully closed, in the outer lock position or open.
In addition, the following two components are indirectly considered part of the system:
11	Inner, switch	Light switch module (LSM) (3/111)	Used for opening the tailgate. The switch is diagnosed by the Central electronic module (CEM). The switch must be held in for 1.5 seconds to activate opening.
12	Remote key	-	If the button with the tailgate symbol is depressed for 1.5 seconds, the tailgate opens.
