Cable Reel: Installation
- Align cancel sleeve grooves with cable reel projections. See Fig 1
. Carefully install cancel sleeve and cable reel onto steering shaft. Install cable reel harness retaining screws. Install harness cover. Install steering column upper and lower covers. Center cable reel. See CABLE REEL CENTERING
under ADJUSTMENTS.
- Route cable reel harness and connectors through steering wheel hole. Install steering wheel. Secure each connector to respective retaining clips and connections in steering wheel.
- Install NEW steering wheel nut, and tighten to specification. Install air bag module, and tighten mounting screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
. Connect cable reel to SRS main harness under steering column. Install cable reel connector holder. Install lower instrument panel cover.
- Activate air bag system. Check SRS indicator light to verify system is okay. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK in AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM
