Selector Mechanism

Under the new "shift-by-wire" operating/shift concept, there is no longer a mechanical connection between the selector lever and the transmission. "Shift-by-wire" also means "electric shift".

The driver is in control without a mechanical fall back.

The shift-by-wire concept is a new way of operating. What is new is that the selector lever does not move into shift gate for each selected driving gear as before, but rather it always returns to the neutral position similar to a joystick. This means the position of the selector lever and gear selected do not match like before.

Any complaints due to malfunctions should be corrected.

The parking lock is operated electro-hydraulically; a mechanical parking lock emergency release makes it possible to unlock the parking lock in case of a fault and to be able to move the vehicle, refer to EMERGENCY RELEASE FROM P .
