Test B: Automatic Transmission Shift Lock Control Always On With Ignition In Run
NOTE:

and WIRING DIAGRAMS

- Did you review the DESCRIPTION and OPERATION and perform the necessary inspections? If so, go to next step. If not, see DESCRIPTION and OPERATION .
- Place the gearshift lever in the PARK position. Turn the ignition switch ON. Does the shift lock control operate with the brake pedal released? If so, go to next step. If not, check for intermittent condition. See SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Test for battery voltage at terminal No. 4 of the shift lock solenoid connector. Is battery voltage present? If so, go to next step. If not, go to step 7 .
- Test for a short to voltage in circuit between the stoplamp switch and the shift lock solenoid. Is a short to voltage present? If so, go to next step. If not, go to step 6 .
- Repair the short to voltage in circuit between the stoplamp switch and the shift lock solenoid. After repairs, go to step 8 .
- Replace the stoplamp switch. See STOPLAMP SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step 8 .
- Replace the shift lock solenoid. See SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
- Operate the system in order to verify the repair. Did you correct the condition? If so, system is okay. If not, go to step 3 .
