Installation Procedure

    Ensure the steering wheel airbag coil is CENTERED during installation. Steering Wheel Airbag Coil Centering

  2. Install the turn signal switch bracket as an assembly with the turn signal switch, gear shift control module, and steering wheel airbag coil (1).

    NOTE:

    Engage the left and right turn signal switch bracket retaining tabs (1).

    NOTE:

    Do NOT remove the bolt in the turn signal switch bracket band clamp. The turn signal switch bracket will need to be replaced if the bolt from the turn signal switch bracket band clamp is fully removed.

    Tighten the turn signal switch bracket band clamp (1). Fastener Specifications

    Steering Column (1) - Install

  6. Connect the electrical connectors and install the wiring harness retainers as necessary.

    Steering Column Nut - Rear (1) - Install and hand tighten [2x]

    Steering Column Nut - Front (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Connect the electrical connector. (1)

    Upper Intermediate Steering Shaft @ Steering Column - Install

  12. If a NEW threaded component is being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded component is reused, prepare the threaded component using the following steps:
    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the component using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Remove loose debris from internal and external threads using compressed air.
    4. Apply liquid thread locking adhesive in a strip along half of the length of the external threads, starting at the tip, just prior to installation. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 
  13. Upper Intermediate Steering Shaft Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Connect the electrical connector.

    Connect the electrical connectors.

  19. Install any connector position assurance (CPA) devices or secondary locks.
  20. WARNING:

    After installation of the steering wheel airbag module to the steering wheel, slightly pull the module outward. If there is no give on the airbag module then it is secured correctly. If the airbag module is not fully attached personal injury could result.

    Turn the steering wheel approximately 90 degrees to the right of the centered position.

    Turn the steering wheel approximately 90 degrees to the left of the centered position.

  30. Instrument Panel Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
  31. Turn the steering wheel to the centered position.

    Instrument Panel Steering Column Upper Trim Cover (1) - Install

    Starting with the top right edge of the left instrument panel center trim pad (1) and working your way left, install the top edge under the instrument panel air outlet bezel.
