    Steering Column Lower Support Bracket Bolt (1) - Hand tighten [2x]

    Intermediate Steering Shaft (2) @ Vehicle - Install

  8. NOTE:

    The recess of the fine tooth in the universal joint have to be precisely aligned to the recess of the fine tooth on the steering column shaft. The bore in the universal joint have to be aligned to the groove on the steering column shaft.

  9. Intermediate Steering Shaft (2) @ Steering Column Shaft - Connect
  10. Intermediate Steering Shaft Upper Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    NOTE:

    The recess of the fine tooth in the universal joint have to be precisely aligned to the recess of the fine tooth on the steering gear pinion. The bore in the universal joint have to be aligned to the groove on the steering gear pinion.

    Intermediate Steering Shaft (3) @ Steering Gear Pinion Shaft - Connect

  12. Intermediate Steering Shaft Lower Bolt (2) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications 
  13. Intermediate Steering Shaft Middle Bolt (1) - Tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Deflector (2) - Install

  15. Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Bracket Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

    Steering Column Control Module (1) - Install

    Ignition and Start Switch Housing Strap (2) - Install

  23. Install the NEW ignition and start switch housing bolt and tighten until the bolt head breaks off. (1)
  24. CAUTION:

    The new SIR coil assembly will be centered. Improper alignment of the SIR coil assembly may damage the unit, causing an inflatable restraint malfunction.

    NOTE:

    Do not remove the centering tab from the new SIR coil until the installation is complete. If the SIR coil does not come with a centering tab, you must center the SIR coil.

  25. Ensure the steering wheel airbag coil is CENTERED during installation. Steering Wheel Airbag Coil Centering .

    Position the wiring harness.

    NOTE:

    The gears between the ignition and start switch and the ignition lock cylinder case MUST be in the correct position. The incorrect position will cause a misalignment of the gears in the ignition and start switch and the ignition lock cylinder case MAY result in a NO START or BATTERY DRAIN condition.

    Perform the following steps to install the ignition lock cylinder (1) :

    1. Install the ignition lock cylinder (1) into the ignition lock cylinder case until it locks in place.
    2. Pull lightly on the ignition lock cylinder (1) to ensure the lock tab inside of the ignition lock cylinder case is fully engaged.

    Steering Wheel (2) - Install

  39. If a NEW threaded component is being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded component is reused, prepare the threaded component using the following steps:
    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the component using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Remove loose debris from internal and external threads using compressed air.
    4. Apply liquid thread locking adhesive in a strip along half of the length of the external threads, starting at the tip, just prior to installation. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (except GMNA) , or Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (GMNA) 
  40. Connect the electrical connector.
  41. Steering Wheel Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Connect the electrical connector.

  43. Install any connector position assurance (CPA) devices or secondary locks.
  44. WARNING:

    After installation of the steering wheel airbag module to the steering wheel, slightly pull the module outward. If there is no give on the airbag module then it is secured correctly. If the airbag module is not fully attached personal injury could result.

  45. Steering Wheel Airbag (2) - Install
  46. Steering Wheel Airbag Bolt (1) Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
