Liftgate Alignment

Inspection 

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

  1. 1.

    Check liftgate-to-body dimensions. REFER to: Body and Frame - Vehicle Specific Information and Tolerance Checks.

Adjustment 

All alignments 

  1. 1.

    Open the liftgate.

  1. 2.

    Position aside the liftgate weatherstrip and the load compartment cover.

  1. 3.

    Release the clips and remove the liftgate opening trim panel.

  1. 4.

    Remove the liftgate striker.

    Torque

    : 17 lb.ft (22.5 Nm)

Liftgate left and right, up and down alignment 

  1. 5.

    Loosen the bolts.

    Loosen: 2 turn(s)

    Carefully close the liftgate.

    Adjust the liftgate to specification. REFER to: Body and Frame - Vehicle Specific Information and Tolerance Checks.

    Carefully open the liftgate.

    Tighten the bolts.

    Torque

    : 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

Liftgate in and out alignment 

  1. 10.

    Remove the D-Pillar trim panel. REFER to: D-Pillar Trim Panel .

  1. 11.

    Loosen the nuts.

    Loosen: 2 turn(s)

    Adjust the stops.

    Carefully close the liftgate.

    Inspect the body-to-liftgate door dimensions. REFER to: Body and Frame - Vehicle Specific Information and Tolerance Checks.

    Install the position aside and removed components.

  1. 19.

    If equipped with power liftgate, carry out the power liftgate initialization. REFER to: Power Liftgate Initialization .
